Lil Nas X Wiki
Montero Lamar Hill (born April 9, 1999), better known by his stage name Lil Nas X, is the artist behind the country rap song "Old Town Road." The song first went viral in early 2019, then climbed international music charts and became diamond certified in November of that year, moving over ten million certified units in sales and streaming combined.
"Old Town Road" became the longest-running number-one song since the chart's debut in 1958 when it spent 19 weeks at the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The song was the subject of several remixes, the most well-known of which featured country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. Lil Nas X came out as gay while "Old Town Road" was at the top of the Hot 100. He was the only artist to do so while their record was at the top.
Following the success of "Old Town Road," Lil Nas X released his first extended play, "7," which resulted in the release of two additional singles: "Panini," which peaked at number five, and "Rodeo," which featured Cardi B or Nas and peaked at number 22. His presentation studio collection, Montero (2021), was upheld by the outline beating singles "Montero (Call out to Me by You)" and "Industry Child" (with Jack Harlow) and the main ten single "That is The very thing that I Need", and was selected for Collection of the Year at the 64th Yearly Grammy Grants.
At the 62nd Grammy Awards, Lil Nas X won awards for Best Music Video and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. He was the most nominated male artist. He won the American Music Award for Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Song and two MTV Video Music Awards for "Old Town Road," including Song of the Year. Additionally, Lil Nas X is the first Black artist to win a Country Music Association award who is openly gay. In 2019, Time named him one of the 25 most influential people on the Internet, and in 2020, Forbes named him one of its 30 Under 30.
